About the event

  • Chilean Guitarist Roberto Kuhn and Yorkshire violinist Katrina Lee formed the Escocia Duo whilst studying for their Masters Degrees at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. An established Violin and Guitar duo, they play a diverse range of repertoire including music by Paganini, Piazzolla and Bartok as well as a growing number of their own arrangements: As a duo they made their debut performance touring Chile, South America in May 2017. Since, they have played a number of recitals in Scotland where they are based.

  • Roberto Hernán Kuhn Versluys is a masters student, studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He previously completed a Bachelor Degree in Music Performance (Guitar), a degree in Musical Composition and a degree in Musical Education in the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Roberto has participated in the Guitar Ensemble of Chile, The Pontifical Catholic University Guitar Ensemble, The PUC Institute of Music Guitar Ensemble and has recently worked alongside the Jugend-Guitarrenorchester Baden-Wurttemberg Guitar Orchestra from Germany.

His solo work has taken him to parts of America, including Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Colombia and Chile.

Katrina Lee is a Yorkshire violinist, who began studying from the age of eight at the Kirklees Music School with Ralph Barker.

In 2010 Katrina received a scholarship to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland graduating with first class honours in 2014 and with a masters from the conservatoire in 2016, receiving the highest mark for her final recital under the tutelage of Andrea Gajic.

During her time at the Conservatoire, she won several awards including the Ian D Watt award, Hilda Bailey Prize, Robert Highgate Scholarship and the Governors' Recital Prize for Strings. Katrina was one of the finalists in the International Konigan Sophie Charlotte competition in Germany in 2014, playing in Mirow Castle, House of Mecklenburg-Streilitz.

Her playing work has taken her abroad to Canada, Hong Kong, Italy, Macau, France, Germany, Iceland and Prague.
